Missouri Weekly Direct Slaughter Cattle (week end 10-05-2018)

Confirmed Sales:

Week to date: 840 Last week: 360 Last Year: 240
( These prices acquired from Missouri producers )

Trading from late last Friday through Friday morning remains
light to inactive with most producers passing or waiting for higher bids
this week. Dressed grid sales this week sold mostly 1.00 higher at
178.00 with flat prices steady with last week and live prices not tested.
Packer inquiry this week hopefully has some upside interest as CME Live
cattle futures for October closed at 113.67 on Thursday which is showing
a negative basis as the board is higher than the cash market. Early week
sales in mostly Iowa had some live prices at 112.00 as some regional
packers were replenishing inventory and hopefully has set the tone for a
firmer market this week. This weeks kill is expected to be fewer than
650K with volume not as large as last week. Boxed-beef prices seem to be
trading mostly sideways this week as Choice closed .56 cents lower on
Thursday at 203.86 and Select .32 cents lower at 191.98 compared to last
Fridays close with Choice at 203.88 and Select at 193.44. The hide and
offal value from a typical slaughter steer on Thursday was estimated at
9.14 per cwt live, unchanged from Wednesdays value.
