Missouri Weekly Direct Slaughter Cattle (week end 02-08-2019)
Confirmed Sales:
Week to date: 0 Last week: 0 Last Year: 80
( These prices acquired from Missouri producers )
Trading from late last Friday through Friday morning remains light
to inactive as producers are waiting for higher bids at this time.
Packers remain in no hurry playing the waiting game as it looks like
another late week trade for the fed cattle market. Feedlots are getting
fairly current on market ready cattle especially in the Northern Plains
and with the continuing cold weather in the Northern Plains could give
the market some support. Market seems content at this time to trade in a
very narrow trading range since the first of January mostly from 122.00-
125.00. Boxed-beef values continue to hold together despite overall
weather has not been good for restaurant traffic from the Midwest to the
East Coast. Thursday Choice boxed-beef closed .86 cents lower at 216.17
with Select .84 cents lower at 211.53 compared to last Fridays close
with Choice at 214.26 and Select at 213.15. The hide and offal value
from a typical slaughter steer on Thursday was estimated at 9.01 per cwt
live, unchanged when compared to Wednesdays value.
